About the Artist
Based in California, I create abstract paintings using acrylic enamel on both stretched canvas and aluminum metal. My paintings are very shiny to the point that they look like glass. They can also include 3D embellishments, sparkly metal flakes, pearl (color-shifting) coats, and up to ten layers of a protective clear coat. I have been painting abstracts using my "gravity wave" and "wind wave" techniques for over 14 years. These techniques are a combination of controllable and uncontrollable forces, which is why my paintings are impossible to duplicate and why they are each truly one-of-a-kind. My paintings have been sold in top California and Hawaii art galleries.
My inspiration comes from my SCUBA diving adventures around the world. Squid and other cephalopods use color to communicate. The colors they produce can be iridescent and change in translucency, opacity and reflectivity in an instant. My experience of encountering this chromatophoric magic attracted me to acrylic enamel paint. With its pearlescent, color-shifting and metallic properties, acrylic enamel allows me to mimic the ocean's incredible creatures.
